Whoo boy. I've only been back for two days, and the old misanthropy is right with me again. I can't bring myself to hate my classmates individually, but collectively is another matter. While I actually am friends with a significant number of people, they feels like a set of measure zero when compared to the great dullness that is the Law School Borg. I'm perfectly happy right now--the line-editing isn't so bad, and I've had some very fun evenings hanging out--but I don't feel any inclination whatsoever towards pleasant sociability with the average classmate.
Being cheerful can be just as bad as being depressed when it comes to the quality of your behavior towards others.

I got an email from my landlord this morning: Sublet Dan never sent him an August rent check. Now, this was not a smart move on Sublet Dan's part. I know where he lives, both literally and figuratively: he will pay his rent.
And yet, the moment he walked into my life, I knew that something like this would happen sooner or later.

With my tendency, of late, towards chillitude and general acceptance of all things, my ability to deploy negative emotions has all but disappeared. The reed bends with the wind but does not break and blah blah blah, but there are times when bad moods actually are a useful ability to have.
To such trivial rants am I reduced.
